Recognisable Structures in Wolverhampton

PIA Wealth Management is the Main Sponsor of "Ethos - The Best of Times"

It is always nice to wind the clock back in our minds to those halcyon days when the summers were sunnier, the winters were snowier and a good time was had by all.

Of course memories of the past that left a positive impression are to be embraced as they make us feel happy but I suppose mixed in with those good times were all the usual challenges of the day that maybe we prefer to park to one side. Who knows? I will let you be the judge of that.

Anyway maybe, just maybe, the best of times is now, and in the song from the musical, La Cage aux Folles (adapted from the film The Birdcage starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane) this is celebrated and delivered with great enthusiasm... as for tomorrow well who knows?

Well you can judge for yourself by coming along to the Grand Theatre in July and enjoying this fabulous one night spectacular produced and directed by our very own local theatre legend, Jeremy Hobbs. It celebrates both the good days past, the best times present and optimistically looks forward into the future.

Jerry, as many know him, is producing and directing ETHOS - The Best of Times for Compton Hospice to celebrate 35 years since the hospice was opened by HRH The Duchess of Kent in 1982. This one off event will feature some of the finest West end professional and local amateur performers of all ages coming together on stage and delivering everything from ballet to memorable musical numbers all concluding with the wonderfully talented Forest Arts and Compton Hospice Choirs leading100 Voices in thanksgiving for Compton Hospice. It should be a night to remember and because it is a one off, tickets are expected to sell quickly.

Compton Hospice, as thousands of people know, has become a local treasure of our own and is worthy of great celebration. All the profits made from the show will be directed to The Compton Hospice Community Co-ordination Centre Project. This ambitious building will create a central hub in which many of the hospice's facilities will be able to be accessed at a central point and we at PIA want to do our bit to support the venture.

The history of the hospice's site starting in 1840 with the building of the beautifully designed Compton Hall up to its important role as a place of care today is the central theme of the evening's entertainment. Jerry's production sensitively captures the evolving story from the 'Awakening' (the ballet), through to 'The Dream', 'The Realisation', 'The Present', 'The Remembrance', 'The Celebration', The Diversity' and then finally 'The Future' which will feature children from the Newbridge Preparatory School with their rendition of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Show tickets can be bought from the Grand theatre either on line ( or direct from the box office by visiting the theatre in Lichfield Street or by telephoning on 01902 429212.
